Samsung Blockchain Wallet Users Can Now Trade Bitcoin On Its Devices

  • Samsung, has integrated the Gemini exchange into its Blockchain Wallet on Galaxy smartphones in the US and Canada.
  • Available on the Samsung Galaxy Store as well as Google’s play store, users with Galaxy S20 Series, Galaxy Note 10 Series and Galaxy Fold will be able to use this new feature.
  • This move was with the aim to encourage more people trade in crypto.

While cryptocurrencies as a concept is still to become mainstream, more people today are considering investing in digital assets. With the ongoing pandemic Coronavirus which has forced everyone to stay indoors and caused cashflow issues, crypto is indeed becoming more desirable. 

In the current times, a slew of companies are taking steps to make crypto trading more convenient for those wanting to enter the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

One being South Korea-based smartphone giant, Samsung. With the aim to boost the usage of crypto, it announced a partnership with crypto exchange Gemini which will enable Samsung blockchain wallet users to trade in crypto such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Zcash. 

Available in the U.S. and Canada, Gemini said the partnership would mean more than 4 million Samsung users will be able to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.

Using Gemini’s services via Samsung’s blockchain Wallet is available for select smartphones such as Galaxy S10 and S20 series. Phones bought through Verizon are not a part of this service.

Apart from trading in crypto, users will be able to store their assets through Gemini’s custody service “for the highest level of security.” 

 “Crypto is not just a technology, it is a movement,” said Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini. “We are proud to be working with Samsung to bring crypto’s promise of greater choice, independence, and opportunity to more individuals around the world.” 

With the launch of Samsung blockchain wallet which in 2018, the company extended support to a plethora of decentralized apps (dapps). With this new partnership Samsung’s has indeed upped the notch in the smartphone industry. 

Banks too are boosting their efforts to encourage the crypto sector. In fact, lately investment banking giant JP Morgan Chase expanded its services for crypto exchanges making Gemini one of the first crypto exchange clients, as reported by Wall Street Journal.
